Mountaineers push their personal boundaries by attempting the 7 Summits - climbing the tallest peak on each of the Earth's 7 continents. Heart&Stroke 7 SummitsTM gives you the opportunity to push your boundaries and reach heights you never thought possible. By climbing the stairs of the 7 tallest office buildings in Toronto's downtown core in one morning you'll not only conquer Toronto's tallest towers, but you also give those who experience cardiac arrest a second chance at life through the vital funds that you raise. We've made a huge impact with the $1.1 million raised for Automated External Defibrillators in 2008, but there is still more to be done. In February 2009 Heart&Stroke 7 SummitsTM is returning with a fundraising goal of $1.5 million and we're going to need your help to get there.
As the February sun rises and slowly illuminates the great atrium at Brookfield Place summiteers will gather in the normally bustling commerce centre turned mountaineering basecamp. Final sustenance will be served, personalized expedition passports will issued and climbers will warm up for the challenge. Sherpas will then guide climbers to the base of the first tower, passports will be stamped and the exhilarating climb up Toronto's landmarks will officially begin, with summiteers driven upwards by the knowledge that each step is helping to save Canadian lives. It will be an arduous physical challenge but climbers will be supported and encouraged along the route. Rest station volunteers will welcome climbers at the bottom of each tower and congratulations will be waiting in the form of summit stations at the climax of each ascent. One by one, the peaks will be scaled and at the end of it all, a celebratory reception will allow all involved to reflect on their achievement and important contribution to placing AEDs throughout our communities.
Amazing prizes for top fundraisers, fastest to climb the 7 peaks and others will bring an element of friendly competition to the challenge.

About the physical challenge
How long will it take?
The 2008 event took participants anywhere from 1hr 22 mins to 3 hours to climb all 7 buildings (plus breaks and the time between buildings). Heart&Stroke 7 SummitsTM is not a race and participants are encourages to complete the challenge at the pace which is right for them.
How fit do I need to be to participate?
Participants should have a basic level of physical fitness to participate. A training plan to get you in shape for the challenge will be posted on the website in early fall 2008.
What if I need to rest along the way?
While climbers will be guided from building to building, breaks can be taken at any time during the challenge. There will be water and sports drinks at the top of each building and at the 2 major basecamps along the way.
